My Christmas Table

It's so close now... just two more sleeps until the big day, can you believe how much it has crept up on us this year?! Being from a very complicated family, I get to have three Christmas Days this year (one real and three faux) and two of these days I am hosting.

So, I may have got a little carried away on dressing my table... two trips to TK Maxx and H&M Home later and here is where I got to...

I have gone pretty neutral, rather than going for traditional reds as I wanted some linens and napkins which I could use all year round (gotta be economical at this time of year!). The stars on the napkins give a touch of Christmas sparkle...

The range of tableware at TK Mazz is brilliant - this three dish server was one of my favourite purchases and it was only £4.99. Perfect for olives, nuts or dips

You have to have candles on a Christmas table and these gold lined tealight holders from H&M give off a lovely glow

I love a bit of greenery on the table and rosemary is cheap and festive
These are the linens I settled on, all from H&M and so reasonably priced. All made from 100% cotton. The washed linen napkins are my absolute favourite - H&M do a range of colours and they feel such great quality
My favourite drink an espresso martini, served in my new champagne glasses bout on Amazon for just £16 for 6
My TK Maxx hoard - a wooden serving board, perfect for bread and a ceramic cheese board will be perfect for the Tapas feast I am planning. The serving dishes were total bargains and a 100% wool cushion for £14.99 - amazing!
What do you think? Would love to know what you are planning for your table!

Look of the Week

Huge apologies for the lack of blog posts recently - December has been an unbearably busy month which is probably what has inspired this  Look of the Week... a gorgeously relaxed and soothing living room.

With a touch of sparkle to nod to the festive time of year, I am obsessed with the mix of monochrome patterns, the pale floorboards and the deepest sofa I have ever seen.

The touches of natural wood give this scheme warmth whilst remaining totally fresh and bright. Here are some highstreet buys which might help inspire you to create this look at home...

Rug, from £169 - West Elm
Cushions, from £3.50 - all Ikea
Mini artificial Christmas tree in basket, £25.99 - Amazon
Black and white throw, £59 - Shropshire Design
Light fitting with grey shade, £59 - Twenga.co.uk
Raw wooden stool, £39.99 - Zara Home
Battery powered fairy lights, £3.99 - Lights4Fun

Brita's Festive Foray

Like many people, I live in a hard water area (you wouldn't believe how many kettles we have been through!) so filtering our water is something which makes total sense to us. However, the water filters always look a little dull and I have never been tempted enough to actually buy one.

So, when the lovely people at Brita told me about a new red version which they have brought out for Christmas I jumped at the chance to review it...

The first thing that stands out is the colour. It really is a lovely fresh, vibrant red without being too primary so it really suits the berry reds I like at Christmas, The shape is perfect too - manages to fit in a great deal of water and sits perfectly in the fridge door.

It is also really easy to set up and use. I am not sure how long the filters will last before they need replacing but its certainly something I will be investing in - the water does just taste better filtered.

The filter usually retails at £21 but I spotted it on offer on Ocado, down to £10.49 which is a great bargain.

Certainly something which won't look out of place on my Christmas table, but also something which would work all year round.

Decorating your home this Christmas - some festive inspiration!

If like me you are planning to put up your Christmas tree this weekend, then you will be mulling over new things to add to your home to make it just right. After a few hours pawing through Pinterest I have pulled together some beautiful rooms which I thought I would share with you this dreary afternoon...

I just love this green scheme - feels so fresh and yet still so appropriate for Christmas

Christmas trees always get pushed to a corner but if you have the room, why not have it in the middle of the room? I love having the tree on a sheepskin rug too!

Simple pine cones and a traditional tree - hashtag love!

I love how simple this is but I think I would miss my baubles maybe. Love having the tree in a basket though - much nicer than those metal stands

If you have a small tree, using baskets to put your presents under works so beautifully!

What do you think? Any ideas jumping out to you?

I will be decorating my tree this weekend so do follow me on Instagram to see how I get on!

Columbia Road - Getting Festive

Happy 1st December everyone! This morning I wanted to share some pictures from a festive trip to Columbia Road flower market in East London I made yesterday - there is no where better to get you in the mood for decorating your home this Christmas and if you can get there I would strongly recommend a trip to stock up on berries, mistletoe and my favourite eucalyptus...

Some of my favourite plants at the market include raw cotton (so festive!), mistletoe, sprayed red branches and the purple cauliflower-looking plants (does anyone know their name?!)

Love this pic! Lots of trees on sale and I have to say they are great value for money and all looked gorgeous, Mr Christmas pictured told us they had been cut on Saturday - can't get fresher than that!

As ever we got a bit carried away... thankfully Peter was on hand to help me carry things home

The flat is now literally full of flowers and the smell is amazing! I now can't wait to get our Christmas tree this weekend.

Let me know what you think? Are you planning a trip to a flower market to prepare for Christmas - what will you be getting?
