Trend Alert: Monochrome Moods

Its no secret that Scandinavian style is continuing to have an influence on interiors with geometric prints, white washed homes and natural materials creeping into numerous homes and magazines. As you know, I am particularly in love with the Scandinavian aesthetic and today I wanted to explore some monochrome styles with you as black and white is the basis for so many Scandi inspired rooms...

Monochrome is one of those things I absolutely love in theory - they look so clean and crisp, whilst retaining so much drama and daring - but in real life can they work?  One place I think it really could work is in the bathroom where you can get away with the clean, starkness of life in black and white, but does it work elsewhere? Here are some rooms which absoluetly make it work and really make me want to try it out...

The black shower head is fabulous here and perfectly stands out against the white metro tiles. Finished off with every scandi inspired bathroom - Aesop toiletries. #love

The mixture of patterns and shades of grey make this still feel incredibly cosy

To make a monochrome scheme work the key is to have contrasting and clashing textures to add interest and drama

I absolutely love this room - the striking bedding and the simple accessories, The feathers add a personal, almost vintage feel whilst still retaining the cleanness of the Scandi inspired look

Adding the touch of natural wicker in this room, along with the greenery really makes this monochrome scheme pop
What do you think? Could you live with black and white and do you think it's too high maintenance?

  1. I use to really dislike monochrome in home decorating but I have since changed my mind. I'm even doing it in our entrance hall but with an art deco twist. It can look really striking (if done right) #LoveYourHome

    1. Yes and you definitely can't get away with leaving things around - unless they match the scheme! x
