Trend Alert: Black Metro Tiles

Happy Monday all! I thought I'd kick off this week with a trend that I have noticed cropping up in interiors mags... black metro tiles.

White metro tiles have been at the centre of many a kitchen and bathroom scheme for many years now, and to me they still seem  to be the best option to achieve that easy, industrial chic look. But, as a huge fan of monochrome schemes and dark, moody interiors, black metro tiles were always going to be a big hit with me and I may even prefer them to white now - there is just something quite glam about them.

Here are some ways I think they work particularly well...

The dark, rich colour means they are perfect to help great accessories stand out. Gold and copper light fittings, taps and shower fixings look particularly good against the tiles, as do light coloured wooden work surfaces.

They also act as a great way to experiment with colour and pattern in a new, bold way. I love the pops of yellow in this downstairs bathroom and the contrasting House of Hackney wallpaper on the right also looks fantastic against the dark, shiny tiles, Neither would have looked as amazing with the lowly white version.

What do you think? Could you be converted?
